The Andhra Pradesh (AP) government has announced significant reforms in the Intermediate education system, notably the abolition of Intermediate First Year examinations starting from the 2025 academic year.

Highlights:

Abolition of First-Year Exams: Students will no longer be required to take public examinations at the end of their first year. Instead, only the Second Year exams will be conducted.

Introduction of NCERT Curriculum: To standardize and enhance the quality of education, the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) syllabus will be introduced for science subjects from the 2025-26 academic year.

Public Consultation: The Board of Intermediate Education Andhra Pradesh (BIEAP) is seeking feedback from students, parents, and educators regarding these proposed changes. Suggestions will be accepted until January 26th.

These reforms aim to reduce the examination burden on students and align AP's education system with national standards. Currently, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are among the few states conducting Intermediate First Year examinations, and this move is expected to bring AP in line with practices followed in other states.
